Especially if you're one of them, here's a stunning short video I happened upon, inspired by early portions of -- by my colleague, Larry Niven -- the novel Ringworld. Seriously cool. (And if you haven't read Ringworld ... you should. It's won about every SF award there is.)

On a terrestrial scale, I was tickled to see my upcoming near-Earth technothriller, Energized, on io9's fairly exclusive list, All The Science Fiction and Fantasy Books We’re Dying to Read in 2012. It's not every day I get to rub (figurative) shoulders with Stephen King, Rob Sawyer, William Gibson, and the other luminaries on the list. And to move even farther down the scale of things, to nanotech -- and not fictional -- consider molecular-scaled batteries.

It was a cool video. They got a lot of specific details right.
Amazing to think the plot of a story written over 40 years ago will be wrapped up in the next year or so.

You often blog about technology and privacy. Have you been following the recent Privacy vs Copyright war involving bills like SOPA, PIPA and ACTA? Any chance you will be posting on the subject?

I earn my living from copyrighted material; IP piracy is literally a matter of my bread and butter. Hence, I'm no fan of pirate sites. I'm also no fan of censorship -- though the protests against SOPA, etc., struck me as overblown.
So: a post on this topic is a definite maybe. It's all up to my muse :-)
